Get to know an architectural gem, originally built for Saxon kings, and let yourselves be enchanted by the unique, nostalgic atmosphere. Built in 1852 and reconstructed until 1927, the heritage-protected historical building does not only attract lovers of architecture.
Soaking in the nostalgic atmosphere and at the “Albert Bad” that - with artistic arcs, walls and tiling – resembles some baroque castle, it’s pretty easy to relax in style. The former “Royal Cabin” reserved exclusively to Saxon kings until 1918, now invites you to indulge in a tingling carbonic sparkling bath in the original, restored copper tub. The Albert hall is decorated with ornaments and an Art Nouveau style fountain. In the historic moor mud bath cabin you can see what moor mud baths were like about a century ago. Especially worth seeing is the artfully decorated cupola above the entrance hall coming from the Brunnenberg direction. It boasts beautiful and impressive spa and water motifs and was designed and constructed by the Dresden architect Ludwig Theodor Chaulant.
The basic restoring of the “Albert Bad” was supervised by the renowned architects at Behnisch & Partner from Stuttgart, who brilliantly managed to combine the precious historic building with modern glass-steel construction suffused with light – as you can see in the pool and sauna area. Today “Albert Bad” offers its guests a stylishly equipped therapy and spa area, a spacious pool and sauna area, a state-of-the-art medical training and physiotherapy centre as well as an inviting reception and information area.
