Royal Convalescence House

Through the Royal Convalescence House, Bad Elster can flaunt an important example of the neo-renaissance era, which has served as significant proof of value of the Bad Elster healing baths up until today, its international importance and its acceptance by the guests at the end of the 19th century.

The Royal Convalescence House was built by the state building master Trobsch from Zwickau between 1888 and 1890. The construction of the Royal Kurhaus, planned as the cultural centre of the spa facilities, was induced and supported by influential individuals of the society in Saxony at the time. The castle-like building, which was almost completely preserved, depicts a unique and rare example of the region’s values and was handled with the utmost care and professionalism during its renovations from 1996 to 1998. The Royal Concalescene House, with its central location in the heart of Bad Elster and vis-à-vis the venerable Albert Baths and the King Albert Theatre, is located beside a modern event venue and attractive convention centre today.
